Korea’s biggest and most anticipated music event of the year, the 2007 Mnet KM Music Festival kicked off with a drag, last night at Jamsil Olympic Stadium.
A lot of top stars attended, performed, presented and accepted their awards. But most of the big names were no where to be seen including DBSK, BoA and Hyori. Even Shinhwa’s Lee Min Woo and Shin Hye Sung who were expected to attend were a no-show and fans aren’t happy. Check out those who did showed up.
To start off the event, they hired a drag queen. Oh wait, that’s actor Jang Geun Suk.
The longest performance of the night came from Mr. I’m-going-to-liberalize-sex himself– JYP. But for a minute there I thought he was part of Jang Geun Suk’s drag queen act.
Why listen to her voice when you can look at her body? Lee Da Hae wasn’t content on just hosting so she untangled herself from her yellow dress-slash-hoodie and showed off her drums and (lack of) singing skills.
Former Jewelry member Seo In Young was the stripper of the night.
Four girls from Korea’s top female groups went head to head in a lame dance battle– all four just kept grinding and rubbing themselves against Kim Bum. It looked like he enjoyed it.
No surprises here. Younha won Best New Solo Artist. Maybe now she can afford a best new stylist.

As expected, Super Junior didn’t go home empty handed. Even if they didn’t win Artist of The Year (which they have), the Elves probably spent their entire allowance to download “Don’t Don” so they could win the Popular Mobile Song. They also won the Netizens Popularity Award. Duh!
Epik High went home with Best Hip Hop Group and Album of the Year for “Remapping the Human Soul”. If only they won another one, they could have one each.
Yes, tough guys get emotional too! Who wouldn’t get all wimpy after winning two top awards? Big Bang won Best Male Group and Song of The Year for “Lies”.
Best New Male Group winners and fur loving band, FT Island was glad to hear that there weren’t any PETA protestors at the event. They also won MNet.com Award.
The world gone mad, you get an award for skipping school. Oh wait, that’s just Wonder Girls in their usual uniform outfits. They recieved the award for Best New Female Group.
Best R&B/Soul Group winners SG Wannabe.
Clazziquai’s Alex and Horan accepted both Best House/Electronic Group and Best Mixed Group Award.
Best Rock Group for Cherry Filter.
Err.. Jung Il Woo and Baek Sung Hyun are not musicians but they still won something. They recieved the Best MV Actors for “Goodbye Sadness”.
Meanwhile, Dynamic Duo recieved the Best MV Screenplay for “Attendance Check”. I didn’t know there’s such an award.
It has been a long journey for this nuna-loving balladeer. Lee Seung Gi embraced presenter Park Kyung Rim as he recieved the award for Best Male Solo for his song “White Lie”.
HaHa presented the Best Ballad Song to Yangpa for “Love, What Is That?”
No, Soh Nyu Si Dae members were not jumping because they won something, all 9 members came home empty handed. Of course, they just debuted. There’s always next year girls.
No nomination? Can’t sing? Why not present an award?
Ahn Hye Kyung with Taiwanese star Joe Cheng did just that, also actors Kim Kang Woo, Kim Min Sun and Park Jin Hee.
Park Si Yeon, get your hands off your cleavage, be proud of it girl! Unless its as plastic as her face. She presented an award with Lee Bum Soo.
Last years host, Kim Ok Bin knows that you can’t go wrong in a mini red. She presented an award with Over the Rainbow co-star Ji Hyun Woo.
Hey Jang Geun Suk, there’s a dead animal on your neck! He accepted the award for Best Female Solo Artist on Ivy’s behalf while Park Si Ho and Choi Jung Won presented an award.
Han Sang Jin and HaHa presented awards with models Song Kyung Ah and Jang Yoon Joo.
Nice to see someone who’s not all flesh and bones, but this is the wrong outfit for Solbi.
Whether its for a photoshoot, film festivals, fashion shows, Beyonce concert or even presenting awards– expect to see BFF Woori and Min Hyo Rin together.
